IVD Vapour Deposition of Aluminum (IVD-AI)

We are one of North America’s only independent providers of IVD-Al – and the only provider in Canada.
What is IVD-AI?
IVD-Al is an environmentally friendly, pure aluminum coating developed by McDonnell Douglas for the aerospace industry. It replaces toxic cadmium coatings through a process that vaporizes pure aluminum wire in a vacuum chamber and deposits a thin coating – down to 1/10,000th of an inch – on steel, aluminum or heavy plastics. The vacuum chamber application eliminates the possibility of galvanic corrosion with dissimilar material (for example, aluminum on steel). IVD-Al is generally a superior coating to cadmium, performing in temperatures as high as 925°F and has better corrosion resistance. (Get more information on IVD-Al process here.)
IVD-Al can also be effective in non-aerospace applications, including for medical equipment, computer hardware, fasteners, automotive, and many more.
